Capacity of 6 wheeler and drag: Tonnes / M3

I'm trying to get a definitive answer as to the carrying capacity of a 6 wheeler and drag timber lorry, both in tonnes and M3.

 

In M3 - I was told it can vary from 30 - 40 M3 for Softwood chip 100mm - 400mm diameter.

 

Any replies welcome.

26.5 tonne payload.

Payload will vary depending on the unladen weight.

 

max gross weight on 6 axles is 44 tonnes, most 6 wheeler and drag combos will weigh in around 17/18 tonnes depending on what crane is fitted and type of bunks etc.

 

Not much to choose between drawbar rig and artic really.

We can only get an 8 wheeler in here, as there are bends and some steepish inclines, all hardcore - however both the Hauliers assure me they can get a 6 weeler and drag in whever an 8 wheeler can go - who am I to argue?

Well, worst case scenario from the hauliers point of view is drop trailer, at roadside, load lorry, swap load onto trailer, reload lorry rehitch and away.

 

Bit of a faff but not your problem.

 

To be fair you can get a 6 wheeler and drag in more tight spots than an artic, as the trailer doesn't cut in behind like an artic trailer does.

One that used to lift from me was 25.5t, as said configurations vary. A wagon and drag is overall longer than an artic but as stated can get into places an artic can't, basically due to the "split" being in middle rather than one end. This allows trailer to track unit.

 

Never seen a dolly trailer in use over here but not to say you don't get them..
