Brushwood in poplar block

Recommended Posts

Hi guys. I'm removing a few hundred tons of poplar in a wood and brash is flying everywhere when they hit the deck. It's my first forestry job so just wondering what people normally do with it all when its on the rides. I will windrow everywhere else as there are other species in the wood. Just wondered what the options were. I am skidding stems out with tractor and winch.

Cheers

If you have a front end loader push it all up into a heap and burn it. If you don't you can row it up with the butt plate of the winch but be careful not to take a big scalp out out of the ride.

You could mulch it with a mulcher but that has a cost. Best way is to try and fell everything into the block, not always possible i know. Brash on the rides is best kept in big bits then moved or you make a lot of mess. Move it to where you want to windrow pile or burn it then cut it up.
