are they surface field finds or where you have been digging

On the surface. I found some roofing tiles , whole ,with nail holes in them but they got chored by a work ate.

grey ware = pots so not sure now - will show photo to an arky guy I know

he has got back and said - hard to tell from the pic exactly -but they are at least medieval and possibly roman

Some are definitely tiles having two straight sides and some have curves. There are a lot of land drains pieces so I had to grade them out.

To the subject in hand, (ahem), roof tiles, possibly Roman, possibly Cotswold in origin? Where are you too?
