Problem cutting a large trunk into logs

A Husky 24" is 84 drive links.

 

Rob D already stocks 75JGX for Stihl saws,Hopefully He will soon have some 73JGX for 3/8 Huskies.

 

A 20" (72 DL) husky bar is only 18" usable length , with dogs on.

 

I often use a 24" with full skip on my 365 Special.

 

Oh sorry . Got an Oregon box here and it says 82 just assumed was for my 24" but yes should be 84 . Doh !

No probs, re-assuring to hear you use 24 with skip on a 365 special, think 28" & skip chain may be too much for a 365xt

Thanks Lillywhite Timber, I tried your suggestion of leaning over the tree and starting the saw nearly vertical, and when completed it made a perfect cut with no annoying wedge.

 

Perhaps a longer bar say 24" would make life a bit easier as has been pointed out by CJ the effective length of a 20" bar is only 18" with the dogs on.
