Hello Pinkfoot,

Thought I would add a similar attachment of myself budding.

From your vid I would assume that you also do rose budding as well.

I am sure that we get the same result from tree budding but we do it the opposite way round to each other.

Hope this attachment works.

I have successfully budded rows but mainly done tying.

Not surprised at muscle problems, it's a real stretch for the muscles, painful to start with then somehow you just accept and tolerate it. The nursery I've done it at now grafts a lot during winter. Still tedious. A satisfying accomplishment though.

Young persons game, just finding the good young un!!!

It's pretty hard to get a good tyer these days , I normally have a new one every year.

Last year the bosses son and his mate , both 17 , and we had a great laugh .

This year just the mate and he is a good lad , wants to be an airline pilot and it will cost him £100,000 to do it.

I hope he succeeds.

Does your nursery line the grafts out in the field as they do on the continent ?

Grafts on to 2-3 yr cell grown stock according to species. Grown in trays in greenhouse until late spring. Potted into 2 litres. Most sold in the autumn. Some reach 6ft!

Probably 5000 planted in the field each year. I don't work there much these days.
