anyone on here bought a unimog in europe and taken it back to uk? been browsing the net and found loads for sale at about half the price atkinson vos are selling them for. how did you go about it?

Surprisingly easy depending which part of Europe, go out see its pay for it and drive it home. Make sure you have the relevant paperwork from the dealer as that will make re registering with the DVLA on uk plates so much easier- or many of the dealers already supply the uk dealers and will happily ship it over to you once you've paid for it, looked at a mint 1650 in Holland and could have it delivered to Harwich docks for less than 500.

There are no taxes if its bought in the EU, other than VAT and thats paid in the uk.

Youll need to do a NOVA declaration within 14 days of getting it back.

Remember that in germany or wherever you get it that they are unlikley to be ag registered, so if you buy one thats over 7.5t youll need a HGV licence to drive it.

you don't pay vat on machines bought in the EU when you bring them back
