Hi guys, im a cpcs blue (A&B) digger driver, i have always wanted to get involved in tree surgery since i was a teenager but where i was brought up was so rural getting to any colleges was a big no no, im now 42 & still have the passion for it, over the last few years ive used various cherry pickers/Chainsaws etc im not scared of heights lol, i live in Stamford (Lincs) and wondered if anyone knows of any places i can take the course there please? i am out of work at the moment due to personal reasons but nothing physical or mental, i have been working on diggers for a while and i do like the job but dont want to be sat in the cab all day long? not sure if having the digger tickets is of any advantage to being a tree surgeon or not? Any advice would be Greatly appreciated please..

Try calling round some local firms,volunteer for a week or two over a few firms.That will give you an insight into the industry and make you some valuable contacts.

 

Investing in your education at this point might not be wise,untill you have gained a feel for the job.

 

There is also the prospect of gaining a job and having the Company pay for your training,if following the suggestion above.

Aspenbob on here is looking for machine drivers, he runs a big tree cutting outfit, thats a goodway for you. Get a job you can do and have the oppertunity on your doorstep to move into saw work.
