I looking to buy a zero turn mower 48/50 min cut. Are the toro units any good for banksides, nothing to steep. Cutting maybe 4acres a week. Cheers

I have a mate who works for council and they use one I'll drop him a text

But coming from a green keeping back ground , parts are expensive

Have you looked at ferris zero turns

Scag and Ferris are king of the zero turns and easy enough for parts, blades belts and bearings all cheap to buy. Petrol ones should have a Kawasaki twin, diesel a 3 cylinder Kubota or Cat, I dont like the Yanmar twins. The build quality on these brands is excellent and a 48 inch should manage 2 acres per hour

We've just bought a ferris zero turn mower. It's a good solid machine.

We also have a couple of Toro machines. A small ride on and a walk behind. We haven't had any problems with them.

Hydrostatic drive (zero turn) mowers are definitely the best for mowing banks IMO.

Ok cool. I could have got a ferris with a cat diesel 1340hrs for just under 3k but it seemed 'to cheap' plus when I viewed it had a chunk missing from the front tyre , which started me thinking, is this a donkey because I was told it would be 'ok' and had no issues over the phone. No bother mate but I'm a bit sketchy sonetimes when I get 'the vibe' :). Plus it's was 6" to wide for my trailer

This is local to me. Jcb. It's a yanmar motor 800hrs. 3.6k inc vat. And it fits on current trailer

I wouldnt worry about Ferris with a chunk out of solid tyre, quite common, I wouldnt buy in a JCB to resell. would be a bit dubious about engine , always sounds very noisy and rough. Fairly sure it is not in current production
