Iveco Daily Tipper Temp Gauge rising when idling??????

Temp Gauge in Iveco 2006 Daily 2.3 hpi rises all the way when in traffic or in 1st or 2nd gear....

 

Anyone else had the same problem???

Sounds like the fan not cutting in, is it electric or solenoid operated? What effect when you switch heating on and circulation fan full on?

Probably the viscous coupling is knackered, when the engine is over hot, switch it off and try and turn the fan, if you can spin it then the coupling needs replacing.

Fan is definitely not cutting in, i never hear it.. i put 12volts to the fan and it worked. when the truck is hot and i turn the circulation fan on it cools down.. so the fan shouldnt spin when its hot??

As a temporary solution consider wiring in a switch that you can flick on in traffic. As to what's causing it probably a faulty connection or temp sensor somewhere

Forget about spinning the fan if its electric. There are two types of fan: viscous drive, which are driven off the fan belt, as the engine heats up the coupling locks and drives the fan, when cool the fan spins freely by hand.

Electric fans operate electronically by a thermostat, if yours is electric and if it goes when you apply power to the motor then its probably the thermostat.
