hi all, newbie here. just wanted to give u all a heads up about a scam I found on gumtree this morning. ok so there was a guy selling a stihl 066 in mint condition for £300 on gumtree in Derbyshire (ripley) so I messaged him saying I was interested in buying the saw, the guy replied saying unfortunately he was working over seas but if I sent payment asap he would arrange for the 066 to be sent out to me asap. obviously I could smell a rat straight away:sneaky2: so I told him that I would like to collect with cash as I don't live far away, he then said the chainsaw was already been held by a courier service in advance for its sale but I would receive it asap after he received the funds, obviously I told him where to go (after winding him up a little:001_tt2: so anyway just thought I would put it out there

to be honest I did think there must be something not right but as it was local to me i thought i would see if I could go and see it in person as bargains do happen, I bought a 2010 ms200 in bits in a box last week for £60 I re-built it and it run as good as new, even had a new spare filter and carb kit:biggrin:

We had a phone call this morning from a guy in Doncaster that was asking about a Kubota G18 we had advertised on Ebay at £4495 plus vat on a classified. He asked did we use libary pictures, I said no . He then pointed out the same photos were on an advert from Milton Keynes. He had emailed and funnily, the woman selling it was in Greece and the mower in Scotland. If he cared to send her £2000, then she would send it for £3.20, he declined. Ebay soon pulled advert when it was pointed out. It appears to usually be the same basic scam with a slight variation in each case. Whatever happens if you cannot see item before sale, there is always a reason!!
