Stump grinder winch?

Has anyone fitted a self recovery winch to a tracked stumper?

 

I got my bandit 2900t in a bit of bover and had to winch it out with the chippers winch. My feeling is if it can happen once it can happen again and not hav winch to recover it.

 

If you have one, what typ and size?

Not a tracked grinder but I fitted this to mine for a job on a banking. It gets used more than you'd think

That looks a handy size, what make i it? My forst tracked has a little winch on it, but good for pulling in brash, want something a bit meatier for the stumper cos its heavyer:thumbup1:

That is just a cheap one off ebay made for atv's says it will pull 1 ton which it pulls my carlton around any where think the carlton is 800kg think if your on a bigger track machine you mite want a 2-3 ton version

I asked Bandit if they would consider fitting a winch on tracked grinders as an option but I got a straight NO. They wouldn't risk damage to the tracks & said it was open to abuse. Saying that there is no reason why you couldn't fit a winch yourself, we used to stock Superwinch, they do a good range.

That sounds like an answer from some one who sits in a office and thinks a grinder should only be used on flat dry ground

I think it would also help lowering down banks etc. I have had to lower the sidewinder from the Forst on occasion insteed of risking the bigun.

If it's just about recovery, just get a tirfor to get it out of the hole.

Thats not a bad idea, and I have a tirfor, the problem is when on my todd. working tracking and cranking at the same time would be a test.
