Remember the cost of living is through the roof in ireland minimum wage is now 9euros an hour. most civil servants are on 50k a year

The cost of living is not that bad, it depends on what your use too.

You’re almost right with the minimum wages for Ireland

From 1 July 2007 the national minimum wage for experienced adult employees and the sub-minimum rates for young people and certain trainees are as follows:

Experienced adult worker €8.65

Aged under 18 €6.06

First year from date of first employment aged over 18 €6.92

Second year from date of first employment aged over 18 €7.79

Employee aged over 18, in structured training during working hours

1st one third period €6.49

2nd one third period €6.92

3rd one third period €7.79

However I must add that Ireland is currently borrowing €400 million a week from the European central bank to run the country.

And has just had the An Bord Snip Nua report which advising the Government on public spending says”it has identified savings of up to €5.3 billion, along with a cut of 17,300 in the number of people working in the public service”

So the average €50k will come down and come down by a lot.

Hi Ian

Did not mean to sound negative. just come back from ireland after a weeks work. Found prices have jumped since last year. Thought it worth mentioning especially if you got somebody from here who is staying based in the uk as a large shift in the exchange rate could really throw a spanner in the works. Great country Ireland especially with all the new motorways ( especially from roscrea to cork ).

Try and run a Old K reg Classic Ranger Rover 3.9 V8 petrol (when its working) and your'll get quite close to 400 million :laugh1:

Especially if you're paying €1200 tax a year!!!

Ireland is a nice country but everything is a right rip off.
