Peter, check the overhang on this baby!

Its a tipper from an extra LWB crew cab LDV bolted onto and standard LWB Crew cab. it belonged to a friend and whent for years no worries. Drove like a pig of course but it went, no power steering if I remember correctly. Mine won't be as bad as this.

You spotted that quickly! Theres more tipper behind the back wheels than in front! I never really noticed until now looking through old photos to see what other truck look like.

You can't but a LWB LDV crew cab tipper. It came as a dropside and he didn't measure it, just took the dropside off and bolted the tipper on and never though twice about it.

I'm feeling better about my project now!

Legally the overhang can be 66% (two thirds) of the wheel base so no problem as long as it tips ok without snappign the back off, and as mentioned before the rear axle isn't overloaded. Still got some maths (guesswork) to do!

If you get enough overhang you could cut the chassis off and hinge the tipper bed in the middle, and you wouldnt even need a ram to tip it! Just pull the catch and up it flips! That would be a weight saver!
