I need to submit a quote for a potential commission and I'm trying to work out material costs.

Can anyone enlighten me on cost per hoppus, or cubic foot/meter?

I need to factor in haulage to me on top of road side price.

Secondly any idea on weight of wrc say 3 logs 4m x 30cm?

I've paid anywhere between £12 and £20 a tonne haulage based on a full arctic load,over 30 to 100 mile hauls.

I suspect that you are after 3 logs only, which would probably cost more depending on distance.

Decent oak goes for about £100 a tonne, but could be alot more, but then again I've got hold of fairly straight logs for less if they were supposed to be firewood. Cedar can be similar or half that, depending on how in vogue it is.

Sawlog tables put a 30cm top dia log at 4m at 0.34m3. Conversion factor for wrc is 1.12 m3/tonne. But if the butts flute, or there's a big taper, which wrc is famous for, then it could weigh much more.

If you are only after 3 logs the cost could be dramatically different either way. I've seen larch poles sold to a guy building a ben laws type house for many times their value.
