U deusta?

I feel these are Ustilina/Kretz (which is it now?)

Crown is perfectly healthy, and weighted towards a property, some 'mechanical' damage around base,

The fungi, top left of picture 4 in the wound looks like it has a bit more substance to it - something desiccated - does anything in particular hang around with Ustilina?

Pretty classic Kretzschmaria deusta. I know, that name still seems unfamiliar. I learned it first as Hypoxylon deustum, then Ustulina deusta. But in following the rules of the nomenclatural code, it does indeed fall into Kretzschmaria, which was published as a valid genus in 1849, although deusta wasn't recognized as that being in that genus until 1970. Oh well, more than you wanted to know!
