Riko WP36 chain lube problem

Of recent we have been having issues with maintaining chain tension on our PTO driven WP36, we have traced this back (possibly) to a lack of bar lubrication as we found a split in the pipe feeding from the tank. Having cut out the split and rejoined the hose as well as clearing out the slot on the bar and anywhere else we could find, we still aren't getting any oil to the bar.

Ideas?

 

No apparent direct pump like on a chainsaw, so guessing the little grey jobbies in the line are vacuum/scavenger type pumps?

Have you removed the bar and chain and operated it to see if there is any oil at all coming through?

Hi,

 

the WP36 pumps oil every time the lever is pulled to bring the bar down through the timber.

The pipe that feeds the lube oil to the bar is the little blue pipe just above the chainsaw motor on the bar mounting.

I do not know the age of your machine so I dont know which system yours has (there are 2 types) but regardless of the systems try the following

 

first check there are no kinks in the pipework or anything that would obstruct the flow. You can disconnect the pipes to make sure there is a good flow of oil out the fitting at the tank.

 

with the machine off, pull the operating lever towards you and release 20 times. So as if you were cutting a bit of wood. Its the motion of pulling the bar down that pumps the oil, not the chain turning.

There should be a flow of oil running down the bar.

Doing that would normally prime it.

 

If it isnt, try putting a bit of pressure on the tank, ie if you have an airline available put a bit of rag the filler hole and apply a bit of air pressure as you pull the lever.

 

There are other things that it could be but try that first and come back to me.
