Trouble with Council

if anyone cares to check up, they will find that every "councill" in the country actually has 2 setups, the councill, with all its restrictions and rules, and the councill ltd, a private corporation run purely to make a profit, thats how they can get away with all the underhand things they get up to

Or a loss, as they are not accountable to the voting people who put them in power. Main benefits no expenses accountability to you or me, they are also free to tender for all the Council work, and its also damage limitation for the Council in the event of a catastrophic occurrence as it could be recorded as been outsourced.

I first became aware of the problem as a Parish Councilor whilst reviewing a planing application for a school, (BS5837 ) the tree survey. I found the survey to be very low quality. Tree SP were incorrectly identified , Crown spreads were not accurate or missing, Stem diameters when they were given was referenced as DBH 1.3M and not 1.5 as they should, tree Categorys were undervalued the list went on. No name of surveyor was put to the report , after raising my concerns i was told what goes on. (Council survey)

The application went straight throw, with no conditions. since then i found out a lot about what goes on .:thumbdown::thumbdown::thumbdown:

This is wrong on so many levels, my main concern is canvasing for business off the back of conservation area applications...

They should have a code of practice with clearly defined rules to allow them to operate as a trading company as well as undertake council works.

I'd ask to see the codes of practice and get your local councillor involved as this is poor practice and a clear message needs to be sent to RBC and other authorities.

I have worked for companies who scan the planning portal for applications sand then target the house owner/applicant for the works, so the council are only doing the same, its the fact that they brought the commercial team rep to the Conservation application site meeting...

Disgusting.....

it is disgusting, RBC tree team was once contracted out to Acorn Tree Surgery and they took some of there guys on full time taking it all in house so now it is ran all in house commercial work quoted by a ex climber with level 4 and Tree officer who has very little climbing experience just all theory and sat on the desk next to the commercial works quoter so all very clicky, i have messaged my local councellor but the "click" continues they aren't interested.
