Delivery trailer

We used to have a Discovery & trailer, required tacho. Now use a 3.5 tonne van, can get 3 x 1m3 bags in it, easier to get in places and only takes 5 mins to chuck the logs out, no tacho required!

It's very easy to get 'wrapped' up in the 'need' to acquire more and bigger kit when, sometimes, less is more!

A van with a walking floor, to eject the bags out the back, sounds like a plan :thumbup1:

We put the bags on an old empty bag. they slide along fairly easily, plus van has side door as well, so it's only really the middle bag that has to be moved when unloading. Load up with forklift using one bag to push the next along. Works for us :thumbup1:

Thanks for the idea.

Did you have a ramp or something to slide the bags down and out of the van?

3m3 in the back your overloaded, you have a payload of 1.2t ish from that you need to take spare wheel, people, fuel etc that takes you down to 900kg maybe 1000kg available. 1m3 seasoned weighs 550kg?

A 3.5t van must have a bigger payload than 900/1000kg surely?

depends on the wheelbase, they only allow 70kg for a driver anymore comes off your payload also fuel has to come off the payload, spare wheel might not be included so that has to come off, also theres no guarantee the vehicle actually weighs what it say in the book.

we had 4x 0.73m3 bags in tha back of the sprinter 20-22%mc and we got done for being something like 480kg overloaded. we weighed the bags after they put us over the weighbridge and they were 280kg each but we could only carry 2 legally. we used to build them into the van and run with 7 for long distances. the new truck had the sparewheel and cage etc cut off to save on weight.
