8pin .325 narrow guage on my 550xp

laugh wow, that was fast cut through that damson 6" piece...

I was trying to get the cut speed up as well as the weight down, so I bought a bar or two from Rob D and sprockets from Clarks and what do you know, It works!

Gone from std 15"husky bar and .325 1.5mm to 15"Oregon pro lite bar and 95vpx, 1.3mm guage chain. Ho ho:lol:

Put a 8 pin on the 576, see how that cuts tomorrow, if the weathers none to cr*ppy

An 8-pin is of course interesting to test in relatively small wood - but going from .058 to .050 (1.5mm to 1.3mm) makes no differense for the cutting, as long as the chain is the same basic model.

 

Narrow kerf (NK) bar and chain is a different story.

 

Running NK chain on a standard bar (like the Pro-Lite) will not work well in the long run - binding in the cut is bound to happen at some point.

for that Chain, you need a Micro-lite Pro, not a Pro-lite.

 

Pro-lite is a regular .325 bar, regardless of its gauge - meant for chain like 20LPX or 20BPX in .050/1.3mm.

Check your facts - Oregon now do a PRO version of Microlite called the Pro-lite 95vpx - see writing on tip of bar.
