Looking for a tank handle for my mates Sthil MS260. Are cheaper am ones any good or is it better to buy an Oem sthil one. I know there is going to be a price difference and my mate being a bit of a tight arse won't want to pay to much. Your thoughts please :confused1:

I bought an aftermarket tank handle for a 361 to fit for a customer who requested a cheap as possible fix, after a few months he brought it back because the tank started to deform and the cap wouldn't seal. The fuel had started to decompose the plastic. The seller refunded and paid for the return postage as he wanted to inspect the part and ive heard nothing from him since. As chance would have it we got a used one off ebay for the same price as the aftermarket one.

Think its a bit of a case of you pay your money you take the risk.

Ive used a couple of the Chinese copys on saws and never had an issue but have heard a few reports of leaking tanks at the seams but given the amount sold v the "odd" problem and the fact they normally are quite happy to send a no quibble replacement im happy to try them.

That said if it where a newish saw I would buy OE given the fact that sometimes colour match can be slightly off and the originality side of things.
