Blue Atlas Cedar loosing needles

Hi

I wonder if anyone can help. My blue atlas cedar has been loosing needles continuously for the last few months and I am continuously brushing them up off the decking - they are everywhere! In the borders, all over the outside table and chairs - help!

Having looked at other forums, I don't think it is diseased as it is still looking healthy, however, there is a lot of sap on the bark.

A few years ago it did get a good dose of tree surgery as it was so tall and straggly and the only other thing I feel is worth mentioning is in the early summer, we put a long nail in it to secure a hook for a washing line - could that be the reason?

All comments will be gratefully received.

Many thanks

Eileen

Hi Eileen

If you can get a few pictures of the tree, one with the whole tree showing where it is situated e.g. next to a wall or tarmac round it etc. and one with the said nail in it and a close up of the needles left on the tree. I'm sure there are people on here who will be able to give you a definitive answer. Good Luck.
