Poisonous, yes, but only if you eat it...

 

There are lots of plants which are similarly poisonous - yew, laburnum etc. There are also a fair few with more enticing fruit such as deadly and woody nightshade, or arum.

 

It's an attractive plant in the right setting, so unless there are small children around who are not trained not to eat strange things, I would leave it alone and enjoy it.

Thanks for replys, it's growing on the edge of our large pond in some soil I tipped off. No children to worry about so will leave it be, I like the look of it!
