Loads of tractor pulling vids on youtube, most impressive was the traction engine v souped up tractor. Absolutely no contest. Traction engine whipped its arse.

 

I was at lancashire traction engine club rally in about 1973 when it chucked it down all weekend

 

Absolutely everything got bogged down even cat d9 (?) that went to pull stuff out

 

1898 McClaren with spuds fitted pulled everything out including the cat - i think it belonged to Pip Atherton from Widnes

 

They moved to old airfield with concrete hard standing year afterwards

Totally believe it, the pulling power of those old beasts is awesome, bearing in mind that they are bog standard and can out pull any of todays standard tractors.

we were between 80 and 90 metre, got there just after 6.

 

 

 

looked like a good crowd for the night pull - oh man was that opening bangs of fireworks loud huh!

It was very wet, may have been late 60's Probably one of first traction engine rallys , I was just a kid

 

I remember at first one scouts doing parking didn't leave space between the rows So impossible to get out until everyone in front of you had left
