Thought you were looking for parts for a JD/Timberjack head? might of been someone else on here.

So I was lol.

what would you expect from thinnings with a stroke head? I've never even seen one working in the woods. Maybe a keto would be better option in the longer term

no idea but you could buy a machine from richard court for less money and hassle than putting a new-ish stroker on a digger. Granted the excavator will be more reliable but overall less capable over a spectrum of conditions. Need some decent mods to the undercarriage of a crawler for durability etc.

I spent flippin ages going through this conundrum. Best track base and head setup in my research was Terex 125 (12 ton) excavator (only 1 inch over zero swing) with enough hydraulic power to run a keto 100. Best setup in respect of the bottom line too. We looked at excavators over and over and over, no kidding. Getting real flow info out of them was hard enough; Kellands showed us a flow meter on the 125 to prove and factory could tweak for more. Deutz engine in it is a gem.

This is as small as you want to go really:

We have two Volvos 14t & 8t machines but they are to busy doing digger work to be tied up with forestry work.

The harvdig systems that Wilsons are doing look ok but out of my budget at the moment.

Will do a bit more research into what's out there. Getting sick of the chainsaw

Valmet with roof mount and keto 51 works ideal for thinnings, light machine, great manoeuvrability and reliable, everything you need, on average I get 7 cube an hour out of it. Potentially for sale as the purpose built is just far more comfortable to be in all day every day.

Barco that's quite a smart setup. How do you find it on steeper slopes and what reach has it got?
