hi guys,im thinking about setting up a kindling business in my area.i have purchased a used kindlet machine.the machine is a 2009 model and i paid 2800 pounds for it (3500 euro).i still need to pick the machine up within the next month or so.

was that a cheap price for the machine?

what materials is best and cheapest for kindling?

should i sell it in loosely packed bags or neatly packed?

is there alot of work involved in making large quantites if kindling?

what sized bag is the most attractive for customers?

any help will be much appreciated :001_smile:

thanks

Price sounds about right not expensive

Clean bone dry pine is the most popular

we only sell neat packed bags cant shift the random stuff

There is a huge amount of work involved for wholesale money

Most of the work is in preparing the stuff to 6" not feeding the kindlet.

we use 50x40 but you need to talk to your large customers.

If you have to buy the timber you will be better off buying cord and doing bags of logs less work and more profit.

hi steve, thanks for the advice.this year i am hopeing to take it nice and slow as i dont have the sheds or yard to do it.but hopefully as i let the business grow i can expand my work area to make easy as possible.and i think it will be great for my young lad ( 16 years old btw) to see how hard money is got and that you will need to graft to earn a living :001_tongue:
