which 404 chains

.404 chain is all generally the same gauge (1.6mm) so take your pick from the different cutter types, tie straps and drive link safety features.

 

And before niko chirps in... We don't use any other gauge for .404 in the uk!

Shavey, we're using stihl 404 1.6mm rapid super on our 084 for cutting up hardwood and it's good fast chain in clean wood.

 

Eddy, I have a 404 1.5mm gauge chain gathering dust in back of cupboard that I believe came off an old husky. I think it's Oregon. 108 links, might have been a 3 ft bar? Keep trying to throw it in the scrap...

I have seen 058 from Windsor and 080 for harvester. But most 404 is 063.

All I know is the semi chisel 404 I used not long ago seemed to cut for freakin ever before needing any attention. I sort of want a 404 bar on a ported 80cc saw just for that reason on clean up duties.
