glastir woodland management on small woodland

i would personally avoid it - but again you need to weigh up your options...

we have decided to not do glastir as the "it needs X done by X or no funding, or well take away your woods" doesnt fit in our managment plan - as with many older smaller estates getting time/funding to get into the woods to complete tasks that you could pay a team/machine to do in a week might not be feasable cash wise but a team working over a few months can do the job - so for me the time restrictions are the reason we are staying away from it.

We ( well my missis) looked at this when we came out of Tir Gofal

She said " we're not doing this , not worth the effort "

I don't like leaving " money on the table " but I had to agree with her when I looked at it....

 

Tir Gofal was very good for us, but costs much more marginal with Glastir, and onerous about stuff like using aluminium (?) nails for bird boxes ......just felt I could see grief ahead
