CS38 Equipment Requirement Help!

Hi everyone, first post on the forum although I have been reading here for some time!

I have a couple of quick questions about the equipment for the CS38 course I am booked onto. The organiser sent me a list of the kit I need, and I am unsure about what some of the things actually mean, or what would be best to buy. Would be grateful for advice! I will quote the items exactly as they are written:

  • Adjustable work position strop

  • Climbing irons (spikes) for rescue type 'D'

  • Spare rescue for rescue type 'C'

  • False anchor for rescue type 'D'

I know what these are, but I am unsure what the "Type C" and "Type D" business means. I had a look around on the Internet, couldn't seem to find anything though. As I said before, I would be grateful of any help you guys could give me!

Thanks!! :001_smile:

Here is my interpretation, based on the cs38 I did last month with Roland Heming (http://www.rolandheming.co.uk) who provided all the gear.

The code and prices are from the honey brothers website (Arborist Equipment - Tree Surgeon Supplies - Climbing Accessories - Honey Brothers Ltd)

Work position strop: wire core flip line with a Prussik or mechanical friction device. Hb050 £84

Climbing irons: spikes. Try to borrow these, as only 2 will be climbing at a time. Bash12-1 £182.75

Spare rescue: rescue connector?? We used 2 caribiners connected with a short sling. Edl 025 £3.50 + ct001 £14.58 (x2)

False anchor : a sling and a caribiner to girth hitch on the climbing pole. Dmm151 £4.50 + ct001 £14.58

Hope that helps

Matt

Thanks to everyone who replied! Much clearer now :)

The part which says "spare rescue for rescue..." was a typo, meant to say "spare ROPE for rescue..." Couldn't edit my post, sorry about that!

Thanks very much for the site and codes/prices!!
