Sad day for my Kaaz Danarm mower

Looks like my gearbox has gone - was squeaking a bit then jammed up a couple of times then the cable just sprang out and all went dead with the roller.

 

I have had it 3 years and it was used then - is it worth repairing as its a old unit but the engine is fantastic. Does have a small split in the body which makes me think its just better to look for another second hand one.

 

Whats the sort of price to get this fixed. Some one said £400

If the cable has sprung out then its probably only a cable problem, so easily fixable.

 

Its worth checking the external selector arm that the cable fits to on the gearbox. They have been known to fracture. Easily replaced (although a bit of a fiddle)

 

The gearboxes seldom completely fail as they are extremely well built, they do however suffer from wear on the engagement dogs which makes them click when taking up drive and leads to eventual loss of engagement.

Thanks for the advice, before it went completely when the drive was not engaged the roller would stick solid sometimes so I could not move it forwards or backwards, then it would be ok other times.
