Id like to try climbing on a well rigged and tuned 4 to 1 fiddle block system, especially since we already have all the gear including 100m of 1/2'' rope,Im nearly there. Plus other things...

I have to ask,,, why? A fiddle block is only going to be marginally useffull straight up, plus you have to do a lot of pulling to go very little distance. Better off using srt, or am i missing the point entirely.

You can set up a simple pulley system using a hitchclimber, its not as well tuned as a fiddle block or as effcient but its simple requires little extra kit and its easy to set up and move around the tree.

True,it would be simpler, thanks for that.

I have a perk job lined up for the summer(NZ) that I want to 4:1 on simply so I can more easily pull myself and my gear up without footlocking. An overhead fairlead is req similar sort of situation as these pics that I saw on the TreeHouse forum.I wont have an experienced groundie, just a general helper.Any comments or tips appreciated.

i just got a hitchclimber on saturday, now i just want to climb every tree available!!! it's awesome.

does your lockjack tend slack for you? can you free climb the tree and it will sort it all out for you? that'd be cooler.

My personal experience is that the lockjack self tends better than any VT that Ive used, but I wouldnt say that its for everyone or better in all situations.
