Sachs Dolmar 133 for milling?

Hi folks, I've been wanting to buy a mill for sometime now and as always this is the place to find my answers :001_smile: I have a fairly decent Dolmar currently with a 20" bar.

From what I've seen it can take up to a 24" bar, I just wondered if anyone would advise going to a 36 or is it likely to kill my lovely old Dolmar.

I'm also thinking of buying the Alaskan Mk3 mill, probably the 24" or 36" if I can still use it with the smaller bar etc.

Thanks

Just had a look up the Dolmar 133 - I think it has around 85cc to 90cc - hard to see how many on web.

So you should be able to put a 28" bar on there fine as said above. This will work fine with a 24" Alaskan and yes you can still use this with the smaller 20" bar although you'll only have a cutting width of around 14".

This Dolmar has a D033 oregon mount - do the mounting bolts have a flange at the bottom?

yes defianteley D033 OREGON MOUNT

the bolts are just straight 14mm studs they arent flanged bolts like the PS/DCS 9010 but the bars are interchangeable between the two models :thumbup:

No prob but it's tricky getting the bars for the D033 mount even for the 9010 - can you change the bar studs to 8mm or better 9mm and then I think all the D009 bars should hopefully work.

its a pain finding long bars for the D033 MOUNTS i put 8mm studs in the PS-9010 and now use a 32'' oregen bar with the D009 MOUNT i have'nt tried different studs in the sachs dolmar but i was talking with stubby about the fitment of husky 3120xp bar on the larger dolmar
