die back in crimson king

I have noticed a few crimson king trees in the area with random areas of dead branches on them. on one tree half the tree is completely dead and the other side is absolutely fine.

I will try and get some pic's soon

but if anyone has any advice on what causes it, it would be interesting to know.

Possibly verticillium wilt (see attachment)
