Site looks good, have you got a facebook business page to link to your site? Ideally one separate from a standard Facebook account, so prospective customers focus on the relevant details. It's worth a lot more than keywords these days, especially for a local business. Drags in mobile and tablet users who drift about on Facebook all day too.

@josharb87 Are you talking about Google Adwords? If so getting high up is a matter of bidding, but also specifying the keywords effectively. For instance, always make sure you've also included negative keywords to focus in on your target audience. ie, 'auction' ought to be a negative keyword, to avoid ebay searches getting dragged in.

You really want to set up a new page, dedicated to just your business. (I'll link to a guide how to do this at the end of the post - bear in mind I haven't looked at this for a year, which can be a loooong time on the internet!)

The reason you want a dedicated business page is to funnel people to the right content in the shortest time, as people are very impatient on the net - people will often search Facebook and not the web, so the Facebook page could be their first port of call. It improves the visibility of your webpage with Google too.

Say I had a small business as an arborist, the aim for my business face book page is let my customers know my location and area I will travel to,hours of business, contact details, and description of services available. A dedicated business page, separate from my personal page, lets me put all that, and more, right up front.

If I used my personal page to hold my business info and link to my website, they'd have to wade through posts by my nieces in some incomprehensible youth-speak, the picture of me playing with my cat tagged as 'Robin and Gargantor, Destroyer of all Mice, go hunting' to get this info - and by now most will have given up. Or they'll be reading more about Gargantor and his photo album and not my arborist business. (If I'm lucky they won't get to the bit that tells them I play Dungeons and Dragons)

Either way, the number of people making that call to me to get a quote on a job is being reduced.

A business page is separate to your personal timeline - it will be connected (as far as Facebook is concerned) but the business page won't link to your personal one. There's a guide here that is ok, ignore any ads on the site.

Hope that helps! If you do build such a page, come back and ask people to 'like' it, (they'll probably want a 'like' back). It helps push your business page to being more visible on facebook.

I've done some keyword phrases e.g tree work Skipton etc so hopefully it will work! I'm only small business so trying not to pay £££££ for all that seo stuff especially when I don't fully understand it all! I payed around £300 for website and seo!

Make sure you site is connected to Google local business and Google plus.

For full belt and braces, get yourself a google webmastertools account and add a sitemap! also put in google analytics.

If this sounds like gobbldy gook get the developer to do this ( should be no more than an hour tops) BUT make sure it's done in your name and you are the admin!
