Echo HCR 171 ES Hedge Trimmer

I am looking to buy this Echo model but I am trying to find out what thickness of branch it will comfortably cut .

The specifications state a tooth pitch of 35 mm and my local dealer claims this is the thickness it will cut. However, I'm not convinced he speaks from experience of using the machine.

The user manual states it is designed to cut a maximum of 6 mm. Could this be a mistake?

Can anyone who has used this machine help to clarify this matter?
