Flooding a cold saw

My stihl ms 260 is being a right arse to start when cold at the mo, it's really hard to pull over (catching) then It spits fuel out of the exhaust and it's fine and continues to be until fully colds again? Any ideas?

Is it fresh fuel?

 

Had similar problems with old fuel i.e. >3 months old.

I'm wondering if your fly wheel key has sheered putting it out of time slightly ?

Sounds a bit like the metering arm is too high or the needle is leaking under pressure and the fuel is gathering in the lower crankcase causing it to flood and cause over compression.

 

Easy to tell, leave it overnight, take the plug out, take out the plug, turn the saw upside down and pull over the saw with the ignition off. If fuel drips out, check the carb out!
