Spruce / Edinburgh

Recommended Posts

Hello folks!

I'm trying to learn my conifers, so any help you can give me would be wonderful!

Attached are 2 PDFs, one gives 16 pictures of a Spruce tree here in Edinburgh showing its salient features, and a second is a "data table" of descriptive details gleaned from the tree (there were trees of the same species beside, hence the male cones included with the female for a dioecious plant)... (you should be able to use page-up and page-down to navigate pictures if you make the zoom right)

Many thanks in advance for any ID advice (and reasons for the ID)!

If you ever have to work in one, you'll never forget it.

Standard quick check for me between Norway ad Sitka Spruce is to cup the end of a branch in the hand and start to squeeze slowly. If it's not unbearable, it's not Sitka. Norway can be a bit sore but it's a poofter compared to Sitka.
