The wonder of bees

I find bees and bigger flies quite co-operative with my attempts to free them from the house. Wasps and smaller flies just plain refuse to follow direction!

Haha Si

That's coz bees are hyper intelligent and wasps and flies are just the thick scallies of the insect world.

Don't think I fancy coming face to face with the entrance of my hive without protection though Gardenmac. Although, I'm fairly happy walking in to the apiary without suiting up, just so long as I'm not tampering with a hive.

Definitely agree with you on Wasps Ferguson.

Me too, when Mrs Macca is checking the hives and I get home after a full on day gardening and having my own hum, they will often come after me even though I can be at the back of the house well away from the hives. Last time a kamikaze came out of the sun and got me just under the eye, yer Bast##rd

When I first started Bee keeping (didn't even have my own bees at this point) I was asked to strim the association apiary. I was advised to do it early before they were active but the kind soul forgot to suggest I blocked the entrances.

THANK GOD I was suited up!!!!!. They were ok until I did the final strip infront of the hives. RUN AWAY!!!!!!!!! It was like something from a cartoon. Thankfully there were only 2 hives there at the time. But even so, 2 hives going full on ape **** both at the same time was scary. Won't ever make that mistake again!
