If it's for kids to play in would it not be best to use 'play bark' from somewhere like the landscape centre at ulting its safe for kids to play in.

 

I have some mixed chip in the yard but would contain some green conifer laurel etc can do a high sided land rover load for £20 to cover diesel cost if any good.
