Yeah it does haha to be honest the muffs are not great they dont seat against my ear 100% when chipping noise does enter into my ear.

Its the straps they allow small gap between me and muff.

But for climbing i love it so comfty no noise probs when using a saw.

You can use the same mounts used for a the Petzl Ecrin rock, it does require you drill a hole to mount them, but this will not affect the helmet strength. It makes for a much more secure fitting and better fit.

You can also get chipper proof ear muffs as the ones you have now are not really rated high enough to use by a chipper hopper, (better than nothing tho) these will give an even tighter and better fit.

A cheaper option, if you can be bothered with the fidling about, is to wear some ear plugs under the defenders you already have, at least any noise getting past the muffs will be better suppressed.

I did'nt realise that some ear plugs give far better protection than ear muffs.

Still I like the simplicity of ear muffs, and the Sordin or Peltor version are very good, and cost about 15 quid.

I've found anything that creates a gap between me and the muffs irritating, especially straps. & sweaty muffs in the summer are another source of irritation (no smutty innuendos please) and this is where I find ear plugs are far more comfy.

I have plugs with a SNR rating of 32db, which I wear o their own in the summer/when its hot. I have the standard husky defenders on my Petzl vertex for the chipping jobs and when its cold. Personally I rarely need the plugs in with defenders, but it was merely a suggestion to help you out.
