i have been a little neglectful lately in posting pictures. just bought a new memory card today so i will be sure to get loads of pics now

not a clue to be honest was mre of a passing comment than actual knowledge, i have seen some lovely spalted beech and love the pattern in it and hate to see it go for logs, looked good to me, maybe some one on here knows if there is a link and could explain it.

Tree looks like it is compartmentalising the decay pretty well from the pictures.

 

Was a reduction considered?

 

Would of been interesting to have seen a round taken from various heights up to the 30ft mark.

nah it was right beside the main road and a horse walk, in a belt of beech trees with plenty others coming up. no need to retain
