CS 30/31 (002003/002004) Assessment Only

Hi,

Hope this isn't an endlessly repeated question, have checked back a year or so.

Various posts have mentioned just booking an assessment if you have sufficient experience + confidence - I have access to a chainsaw, ppe, a wood to practice in and have cross cut a lot of fire wood, in addition to felling and snedding trees up to 24 inch diameter the old fashioned, wooden handled way. I also have a qualified arborist who will have me as an assistant and will happily teach me maintenance, sharpening etc using up to date course materials and criteria.

I do not however have a spare £500 for a formal training course.

How do I go about booking an externally hosted assessment? I appreciate that an assessor putting on a day just for me would also be highly expensive. Are stand alone assessments available to be booked onto - my google searching hasn't found any. Alternatively if a course runs without being fully booked, is it possible to join the assessment for that course? Contact information would be gratefully received, I am based near Oxford but willing to travel a couple of hours for assessment in any direction.

Thanks,

Will

Have a look at the list of centres on the NPTC website & try a few a few within travel distance. They will be matching candidates to assessors all the time & should be able to get you sorted. Would advise spending a day or two with an instructor though to make sure you are up to speed with all the techniques you will be required to demonstrate.
