14 mm bull can handle some large lumps and its no problem to handle at all.

we have 13 14 and 16 mm and i always take the 14 as its got the best of both worlds 16 mm for snatching big big stuff. this piece had a small shock load as we winched it with the grcs and when it popped it bounced a bit ...... to be honest we all though that something would break so i got out of the tree. the rope had some damage at the half hitch but still nailed it

Have you tried a rolling hitch? Its halfway between a clove hitch and a tautline hitch. Give the rope a bit of room to roll in a shockload so it doesnt get a load of force on one set point like it does with a half hitch and a running bowline..
