Felling some poplars today and I noticed that a Lombardy had symptoms of V populina. Ok, so I no this is less common on Lombardy's but it does occur. It had pretty much stripped all the foliage and any live growth was epicormics.

 

But the other poplar in the garden, a white one had the same shepherds crook symptoms. Sinclair identifies P. moreletti as the causal agent. I don't believe I've come across this particular pathogen before, or identified it:blushing:. How common is it, in the Uk as a whole and Manchester/north-east.

I've no doubt as to the identification, I was just enquiring as to the prevalence of it in the uk as a whole, or the NE in particular. Ventura has blighted our blacks/Manchester pops up here - so I'm clued up on the ID (unfortunately)
