Anyway, the FM starter is quite easily jammed if re-assembled wrongly, it should be the rewind spring attatched to the rope guide, then a thin metal washer, plastic washer, rotor friction arms, plastic washer, metal washer, spring, big metal washer and an e-clip, if anything is missing, it doesn't work

Hi, ok i've found out its a FM starter and all the parts are there how do i either tighten the recoil spring or make it so the cord winds in fully because at the moment it doesn't wind in all the way there's about a half inch that hangs loose

You normally wind the cord on to the pulley so that on full extension, the pulley can still be rotated that little bit further clockwise - this is to ensure the spring isn't taking the impact of the starter and if done correctly, should pull the recoil rope in. A little light lubrication helps as well.

Pull the cord out a little, grip the starter so it can't retract, push a bit of cord back into the starter area and wind the spring two turns tighter by using the cord to turn the wheel
