I failed my CS31 when I put straight in for the assessment just after finishing my first Arb College course.

Five years later i thought I really should get the ticket so did one days training with Kev when he was still at BTS and then flew through the assessment.

It's surprising the bits of knowledge that you can pick up from proper tuition even after using saws daily for years. And of course they teach you how to pass the exam.

I know someone, (not me) who failed theirs'. Maintenance good, answering questions good, cutting good, snedding good; then while rolling out a hung-up, repositioned the bar and momentarily stood under the tree. Assessor stopped it right there and then on safety grounds.

That is where they have got you.

Same for all these training courses and assessments (in all subjects/industries).

The way things are going there are going to be more trainers and assessors than workers (if we are not there already)

Why don't they fetch in CPC for car drivers?
