Every year I have great intentions which end up as garage flowers and chocolates. This year I'm bucking the trend and making a copper rose. Got some sheet copper from a Newark brewery which was taken down in the 60's and I'm cutting, marking and annealing it before shaping it into a rose bud.

Come on guys, make something for the missus this Valentine's, you've still got time!

Hmmmmm, may not go down so well.

Right into metalwork at school - no time for woodwork at all.

Lathes, forging, casting, acid baths, ahhhhh, those were the days.

My poor kids get nothing more exciting to do than 'design how a mobile phone might look' at school now.

And people wonder why we don't manufacture anything anymore!

These days I seem to only get the opportunity to do rough woodwork.

I am quite tempted to make my wife a shave horse like this..

I showed it to her to gauge her opinion. She said it reminds her of a scene from the film "burn after reading"

Not sure I really want to make one now :001_huh:

An old hub for use with brake shoes best but you're right it's a disc. Useful just to sit copper in while I get it up to cherry red.

Like the horse Mat!
