Climber looking for work in Darwin, May onwards

I am a climber going to Darwin Australia around June time. I'm trying to sort out some work out so I can be working Quite soon after I arrive.

Does anyone happen to have any advice or contacts in Darwin?

Or if you have a tree company yourself in or around Darwin and are looking for an arborist, please message me.

I absolutely love the job, have 5 years industry experience and by June 2014, nearly a years climbing under my belt/harness

I see any work as valuable experience, so for me to be working in Australia (the other side of the world from England) would be an absolute bonus! I've heard that there is a lot of tree work out there. Lichfield national park is close by??

I will be sending my kit out there (topping saw, climbing ropes, harness etc) is this a good idea? Any advice would be hugely appreciated!

cheers, Adam

Well, I remember being in Darwin around that time and changing the tyres on my bike and it was still over 35 degrees! I found it too hot to do much strenuous work so climbing may come as a shock!

Sending stuff by ship is cheap but takes six months, or used to in the 90's. Perhaps you'd be better off buying equipment there?

There may be climbers reply to your Q who've been more recently and are able to help with further advice.

Whatever yo do there it is an interesting place to be......My daughter is working in Alice and at present it's too hot to go outside at all. Just sitting on the car seat is an interesting exercise!

I used to work at remote area tree services great company there is also paradise trees they are a bit larger or Bens Trees. Don't buy gear over there its more expensive especially coming from UK. I shipped mine from aus to uk took about a month but you can air freight it if you want it quicker bit more pricey air freight. Should be dry season around May time so will be in the 30s, might sound hot but wet season it gets hotter with the added humidity. Found it a great place to work will be back there in September.
