Alternative saw placement.

I'm always trying to change things and try something new.

 

I find with my harness when carrying a big saw it drags the waist belt down and to the right, I know with some harness you can get suspenders just not for mine.

 

I've also tried hanging the saw off a secondary bridge, this is o.k on poles but the second bridge gets on my nerves when I don't use it.

 

So when looking through this site I found this:

Its for organsing a rock climbing rack, but I was wandering if something like this could be adapted for carrying a chainsaw?

 

Anyone tried something like this?

To much shite to get in the way Marc, it's not like you have a big saw on you for long. If i need a break i'll clip it to a sling cinched round the stem.

I've now been thinking a big saw hung from your shoulder may possibly be more uncomfortable than your hip anyway. Especially dropping the saw.

Or, you could use a separate tool line for your saw, not that I have done that but it works for some, suspenders on your harness though, is a good thing for hanging a heavy saw, I have heard.

Wht do you mean by seperate tool line?

 

My harness is not compatible with suspenders.

 

The best i've tried is hanging the saw off my bridge, only it takes some getting used to having the saw hanging between the legs,,,, it was one reason for making an adjustable rope saw lanyard, I can reach under my right leg to get the saw and drop it down again easier, and always have enough length.

 

 

This is only a little niggle, carrying a big saw is not unbearable in the least, just trying to think up an alternative.

A line set up independent of the operator, ie, the chainsaw has it's own independent support system, ie, a rope. A common thing in rope access work I believe?

I use a groundie to raise it up to me and then just clip it onto my harness.

 

But if you had the grcs device you could raiase it up with that and leave it attached over a branch and hey you dont have to support its weight.

What the branches that you have allready cut off Didn't think you liked overpriced rigging devices my method is definatly the cheapest. :wave:
