Stihl 026 and MS260 have difference bar mounts?

Hello!

Just fixing up a 260, and have various old bars from 026s around, but they don't fit!

Is this normal? The bar mount is the same as an 046 (although the old 20" bar from an 046 isn't quite the ticket for a 260!).

Well!

That's weird!

Perhaps aliens or ghosts or something.

I did fix a really early 026 without an automatic/on/off oiler a while ago, maybe that had smaller mounts?

Hmmm.

The only Stihls (and thus Stihl bars) I've had in my workshop in the last year or so are 026/260 and an 046. Funny.

026 and 260 should have the same mount...

What is it about the bars the is causing them not to fit? Pics would be useful and any info written on the bars that don't fit...

Well that's embarrassing!

I've just realised the old '026' bar is actually from a Makita! Doh! What remains of the paint looked Stihl grey, but is actually Makita...grey.

That explains it.
