hi everyone, an annoying problem with my old 048 began yesterday.it starts and cuts great but wont idle for more than about 7-8 seconds just peters out. this saw has always been 100% good,any ideas anyone?

Did you try adjusting the L screw before setting the tickover screw?

 

Unfortunatly it could mean you may have the start of an air leak somewhere like a bad intake boot or impulse line or even the fuel line itself. Assume the air filter is relatively clean? Could be a bit of crap in the carb even or the sparkplug. Is there any of them you can scrub off the list?
